Who can camp at a meet with The Ridings?

  • Any full or family member of the Camping and Caravanning Club

  • A current membership card needs to be produced for everyone camping at a meet

How much does it cost to camp?

  • Our current fee* is £12 per unit night and this is for 2 adults in a unit. The fee also includes any regular social activities such as our ceilidhs and singarounds.

  • Additional adults camping in a unit are charged £2.50 per night

  • The cost for non-camping adults who attend evening social events is £4.00

  • Non-members are welcome to accompany a member at our social gatherings

* Due to high site costs, there will be special meet fees for the May Day meet at Ripon and August Bank Holiday at Hutton le Hole of £13

Should I bring my musical instrument along?

  • YES Whatever your level of ability we are enthusiastic about you joining other musicians whether at a playaround on the field or in the band at the ceilidh. We will always try and find someone to share their music and over the years we have had such a wide range of instruments in our bands. The more the merrier!

What events take place at a weekend meet?

  • The only guaranteed activity is the Saturday night ceilidh as everything is based on who turns up! (and the weather!)

  • We often have impromptu coffee mornings on the field, musician get-togethers, song sessions, organised walks/strolls around the local area

  • A local hall is booked for the Saturday evening ceilidh and we usually have a live band, range of callers and a couple of spots

  • During our longer weekends we often plan more than one ceilidh dependent on numbers that are camping and the availability of the hall - these are usually mentioned in the Newsletter or on the website

  • Some evenings we gather in the hall for a mix of activities including song, craft, music or even a game of chicken foot (dominos for up to 12 players)

Do I need to book to attend a meet?

  • If you need to book for a meet this is always advertised in advance

  • Currently we only have two Booked Meets - both at Sykehouse Village Hall due to the limited space. These are in October and for the New Year Meet.
